While writing this article, I think it is clear to remember that the approach I take to healing and understanding the body is vastly different from what the majority of Americans have been taught. In this country, for some weird reason, we delight in naming our maladies. Most people want their problems to be defined in one word like bronchitis, arthritis, diabetes or IBS. Once the imbalance has been diagnosed, most fall victim to it feeling powerless to change it. Yet, how can we possibly be defined by one word when our bodies are more complex and there still exist a vast mystery on what science truly knows about the body. It is usually a myriad of symptoms that manifest together to create a diagnosis. Yet, this myriad of symptoms are looked at as the cause of disease in western medicine and not the effect as in all older cultures all around the world. Before a symptom can ever be present an imbalance must occur. The imbalance can come from a whole array of places but we can break them all down to four categories. It is either physical, mental, emotional or energetic. Most all older cultures embrace this understanding except for modern Americanized medicine. In my opinion that leaves us only one place that American medicine can excel at and that is trauma. I can say that if I required trauma care I would feel perfectly fine receiving that help from our current crop of doctors. However, that is as far as I am willing to go because truth be told 99% of doctors SUCK at health. I would much rather learn the ways and techniques to become my own most powerful healer. This is my body, I want to know it, I want to heal it, I want to be responsible for it. Can you say the same thing? Can you sit down and feel a relationship with your body as the most precious symbol of your life and be a good steward for it?
What would happen if doctors never diagnosed anything? What would happen if they said to you, "What kind of life are you living to have manifested this myriad of symptoms." This one approach could change the course of healing for an entire nation. It would put personal responsibility back in the hands of the people who are unwell. It would retrain society to let go of the attachment to of an outside authority telling you what is wrong with you. In reality, haven't you been told enough about yourself by the "experts" to know that they are no expert at all? How long must we live in this way as a society in which the number one cause of death is the very system that is supposed to help us heal. Did you know that last year not one single report of death came from using an herb, vitamin or mineral. Yet the number one killer is, our health in the hands of big pharma and big medical, which are killing more people each year than what you would have seen in some of the worst wars this world has known.
You may wonder though, if this is true, then how do we change it? The answer in my heart is much simpler than what most people realize. I feel the answer is to choose to live aware and consciously with no fear of death. What if the entire way you structured your day was around living freely from stress, fear or powerlessness? What if you made that commitment on a daily basis to yourself? Go ahead and say it OUT LOUD. I choose to live fearlessly stalking my freedom and love in everything I do. Nothing is going to define me or the condition I currently am working with. I am made whole by my desire to live a life of love and power from my heart. I am the beauty of life manifest.
Saying this is one thing, living it is another. You can make that choice right now in this very moment.
What good is retirement if you are not around to live it? What good is having a family if you are not around to enjoy them? What good is having luxury items while sacrificing your ability to show them off? I think you get the idea. Diagnosis is method of cutting you off from the source of your own healing. While I think it is good to have a great doctor to work with and a good idea to have regular check up's if you have had some health imbalances, I can say that it is true for most that once you receive a diagnosis and believe it, you have already lost half the battle against what is ailing you. It you perceive your health as a matter of balance or imbalance then it makes it much easier to actually heal your life vs. become a victim to it. As always, the most practical approach is recommended and by no means do I mean this post as a blanket statement for humanity. It is my intent to merely approach the subject of healing and how do we make it more effective. Enjoy.
