Does your Cupboard hold Rancid Foods?

While most Americans have worked to make the switch to a healthy lifestyle by moving away from trans fats, another issue has been created. Because of the way food had been prepared and preserved we became accustom to our foods lasting for quite a while after purchased. This habit has lead us to believe for the most part that we are making healthier choices, which we are, yet these healthier choices do not last near as long and are meant to be used up quicker. If that Olive Oil or Flax Seed Oil has been sitting on the shelf for a while, there is a good chance it has gone rancid. This can start a series of problems based of using rancid ingredients in our meals. So while we think we are making a healthier choice, we could be hurting our health by not consuming those healthier ingredients in a fast enough time line. Therefore, the mantra of "Buy what you can use" when it comes to oils and fats specifically, will help you to stay healthier.
