I am sure you all want to hear this. You mean we can't eat a lot of processed, genetically modified food and be happy? Can't we load up on our favorite chips and soda daily with a lot of ice cream at night and thrive? Sarcasm aside, I for one am not surprised by this article at all. In fact, aside from the nutrient depletion that the American diet causes, it also burdens your liver and digestive tract immensely which as we all know makes you feel miserable. Yet, how many of us actually change what we eat and continue to feed our own misery. This to me makes it apparent that depression is a product of lifestyle, not a mental defect. Don't tell your shrink or doctor that though because it may make them useless to diagnosis something that started with your food and lifestyle choices.

Bart, I hope this is okay to post on your blog. I can't resist because it hit me so hard. In the Bible, Isaiah 55:2 says this, "Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me. Eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare."
ReplyDeleteIn this passage, God is speaking to His people urging them to return to Him. Is the same way, he is urging us today to EAT WHAT IS GOOD. Can't you hear the urgency today? Feed your earthly bodies well so that you may thrive. He knows what will satisfy. God so often uses this food analogy to teach us about life. This brief life He gives us on earth is precious. I can hear Him urging us not to waste our precious time, hard-earned money, resources, and efforts on things that have no eternal value. EAT WHAT IS GOOD, He says, Eat what is good.
I am happy for anybody to post in whatever way moves them.
DeleteIn every culture around the world there has always been a knowing to live in relationship with the natural world as it provides us with all that is required to sustain us to the point of thriving. The old ways and teachings of our ancestors including the texts that were written long ago have always pointed this out. It is only in our arrogance that we think that things have changed and we can do better than what nature or the creator for that matter intended. Humanity is finally remembering this and I for one look forward to that.
I absolutely love your prospectives. So pure. Seems wise to live seeking how our Creator intended us to live. Thanks for using your gifts to shed some light on this. I really appreciate it.
