A Glimpse of the Old Ways
For weekend watching, I thought it would be good to share a little bit of my history. When I tell people I grew up living next to a "Back Woods Herbalist", most don't know what that means. So, take a trip down my memory lane and learn about the mentor to my mother that became like an early adopted grandfather to me. Tommie Bass was as herbalist as you could get. He had a working knowledge of thousands of plants that he could identify and prepare for medicinal use. There are very few of these type of people in the U.S. left today. He was a true original with a humble demeanor that captivated everyone he worked with. You will get a glimpse of my mother in her younger years, but mostly this is about the man that would have an impact on my family's and my life in ways that I had never even realized until I grew older. Now, I just wish I had more time to spend with him and learn more first hand knowledge that can only be taught by experience. I hope you enjoy this short documentary on an amazing healer and human. Enjoy! http://www.folkstreams.net/film,83

Bart--thank you for sharing the video! He was captivating... It was inspiring to see your mom on the video. Each time I have spoken with her, she has been such a wealth of information. It was interesting to see how her knowledge of herbs grew as she learned from Tommy--definitely a great example for anyone striving for mastery of a passion!
